Wedding Bells

This is Dallin's friend Maize Thompson. Maize is in Dallin's Star A class in primary. While we were driving in the car the other day, Dallin out of the blue told me that when he grew up that he was going to marry Maize in the temple. I'm not sure why he even thought about it, but you can see why he might have chosen her. Isn't she a beautiful little girl? Dallin is only 5 years old, but he already has really good taste!

We really love the Thompson family. Nathan is their home teacher and Heath is our home teacher. Last night we went over to their house and had a little family home evening type visit with them. Maize led us in singing "I Love to See the Temple" and Dallin, Mandy and Millie decided to help her.

MOSH

These are a few pictures from our trip to the Museum of Science and History. Dallin has now claimed ownership of this museum. So when he talks about it he refers to it as "my" museum.

Mandy loves the dinosaur exhibit. The day after we went she walked around the house all day long roaring like a dinosaur. I think it is kind of funny that the dinosaur is now her favorite because the first time that we went to the museum and Dallin pressed the button to hear the dinosaur roar, Mandy was terrified and ran and hid behind my leg. I guess since she has now discovered that the dinosaur is not real, she has decided that she likes it.
During this visit to the museum in the "Florida Habitat" exhibit the lady there let Dallin and Mandy feel the feathers from the different owls that they house there. One of the other volunteers there had a live possum. Dallin tried to feed it a grape, but I think he got a little scared of it and dropped the grape before the possum could eat it. But he still thought that it was cool.
Layton of course just spent most of the time either sleeping or being held. Their cousin Chloe and their Nana went with us too and we all had a great time.

Knock Knock Joke

Dallin loves to tell knock knock jokes. They don't really make any sense, but he thinks that they are funny. And Mandy, not to be outdone, has to tell her own knock knock joke too. It sounds an awful lot like Dallin's, but then that is Mandy for you. She wants to do everything just like Dallin does it.

Layton Talking

Layton loves to talk to Daddy. Daddy always seems to get the best smiles and squeals out of him.

Primary Songs

My mom painted this picture of the Orlando Temple and it hangs in our living room. Mandy loves to sing the primary song "I Love to See the Temple", but she thinks that she can't sing it unless we are sitting in front of this picture so that everytime we sing "temple" in the song she can point to the picture. It really is funny how songs can influence children. Mandy is learning how to say prayer on her own. And in her prayer she always blesses the missionaries. Only she says it this way "Please bless the missionaries do". It took us a while to realize she was saying it that way because the last line of "I Hope They Call Me on a Mission" is "work as missionaries do".

Portraits

Last week the kids had their pictures taken. These are Dallin's 5 year old pictures and Layton's 3 month old pictures. And even though Mandy isn't really at a milestone right now, she is just so cute that we took pictures of her too.
They really love each other so very much.

Layton looks so much like Dallin in this picture.

This is our little camera ham. She loves to have her picture taken.

Isn't he handsome?

Layton

Layton was born in March. We are so happy to have him in our family. He is growing so quickly. We love it that now at 3 months old he is starting to be so responsive to our voices. He loves to have you talk to him. He will just smile and smile and try to talk back to you. He especially loves for you to sing the "Itsy Bitsy Spider" to him and do the motions with his hands.
He is also very spoiled. We hold him almost all day long. If he is being held he is a remarkably happy baby. But when not being held, he can quite loudly let you know that this is not what he wants.

Mandy

Mandy is our only girl for now. But even though she has two brothers and no sisters, she is still very much a girly-girl. She loves to dress up. She loves to pretend to be a princess or a ballerina. She also loves to wear her swimming suit. In fact, I think that everyday for the last month she has worn her swim suit for at least part of the day. Which is really kind of funny considering that we usually only go swimming about once a week.

Mandy is also quite the artist. She loves to draw and paint. We are really hoping that she has inherited her Meme's fantastic artistic abilities. Mandy also loves to sing. Even now as I am typing this, she is singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star to me.

Dallin

Dallin is our firstborn in the wilderness. Well, that is if you can call Middleburg a wilderness. It is probably more like a suburb, but wouldn't it be great if he turned out to be like Lehi's firstborn in the wilderness. I can't imagine what it would be like to be the parent of a prophet, but then Lehi was a prophet himself so it probably wasn't that much a surprise that his son was too. I mean he already had one son that was a prophet, why not have second one too.

Anyway, this post is really supposed to be about Dallin. He is quite the character. He loves the movie Cars. In fact the majority of toys that he owns and about half of his clothes have something to do with Lightning McQueen or one of the other Cars characters. Dallin turned 5 this month and is so excited to be a "big boy" now. Almost everything thing he talks about doing starts with "now that I am 5 I can...." Dallin also loves to play outside, he especially loves to ride his bike and play soccer in the back yard.
