The Good-bye Party

Nathan’s Dad, who I also refer to as Dad, has been in the National Guard for who knows how many years.  Lots.  And now, when he is close to the end of his career, he is being activated to go and serve for 1 year in Iraq.  As you can imagine, we are very sad to see him go and are nervous for him to be in such a place.  But at the same time, we are so proud of him for serving his country.  It is such a noble and selfless thing to do.

Last Sunday, a party was held for him to let the ward members say goodbye.  He’ll be leaving next Monday.  He is so well loved by his family and friends!

These are just some random pictures from the party.

  3. Oh, my! I am in shock. I had no idea they would take him at this stage of his career. What will his assignment be? Is that last picture of him ...is that his dad?

  6. No, it's not his dad. His father passed away many years ago. That is his older brother. There is quite a spread in their ages.

  10. I was very touched by the party too. It makes me happy that so many people love & support him! I like the picture of him halfway down... he looks like "Wow, I didn't know so many people cared!" He is so humble.

  11. You have a very special Dad, Kat. I know you will all miss him. He always brings someting special to the conversation. Maybe they'll just put him in charges of sweeping the base or something. Isn't it really bad how we get so protective when it's OUR family. Please tell him that we will be praying for him and remember that he does have a guardian angel.
