Christmas in August

Sometimes cleaning up can be just like Christmas.  I finally went through Dallin and Mandy’s OVERFLOWING toy boxes.  We threw out all the broken ones and I made each of them pick a few things to give away.

At the bottom of Dallin’s toy box he found his train set.  He was overjoyed and has now played with them everyday since then!  Mandy and Layton have enjoyed the “new” toy too!

  1. That's awesome! It feels good to clean out the old toys that the kids no longer play with and donate them. But what a bonus to find something they had forgotten and see that they love it so much!

  2. I soooo need to do this. I am waiting for the kids to go back to school, though.
It looks like the kids are having a great time with their "Christmas" present!

  3. Isn't it amazing the amount of toys kids have?I was putting clothes away in Abigail's closet the other day and just looked at all her toys. Great idea getting them to give some away! You are a great mom!

  4. I need to make a habit of putting some of the toys they play with away so I can bring them out on an inside day. It helps keep things new for them. Speaking of Christmas...with a playgroup I found up here they did a toy exchange with the kids and everyone brought a gently used toy wrapped and the kids exchanged them. No one was out money and they got to get rid of a toy their kids don't really use anymore for a new toy.
