Since last week was spring break, Nathan took a day off so that we could spend a little time doing something fun. We decided to head down to one of the State Parks in Gainesville, called Devil’s Millhopper. It is huge sink hole that was formed thousands of years ago.
It is lush with vegetation and has a number of little streams flowing through it that discharge directly into the ground at the bottom of the sink.
Walking down the stairs was a nice fun little experience. Walking up the stairs – well that’s a different story.
We also enjoyed playing around down there. Layton took every opportunity he could to climb up on the railing!
We were especially glad that Nana and Grandpa came with us too.
We also really enjoyed Dallin reading all the signs and info for us.
We’re not sure we would have known anything about the sinkhole without him!
That place is beautiful! Can i have directions? Those steps do look a bit intimadating!(sp?)
ReplyDeleteYou know we Shaw's love to copy good ideas for family ventures!
Oooh, we will have to go there when we head back to Gainsville to go to the butterfly museum.
ReplyDeleteEmma is a sign reader, too. Aren't you so glad we have six year olds with us to guide the way?!
Looks like a wonderful day! Love seeing Grandma & Pa Jarvis!
ReplyDeleteLoved seeing all the kids together. Wish we could have joined in on the fun! Dang! I sure miss being with all those sweet kids each Sunday. Infact the other night I was telling Heath how much I missed My Primary kids and friends.. I even started to cry. Those were Good Days!
I MISS YOU ALL!
Cool place that I've never heard of!
ReplyDeleteIs Mandy's flower shirt the new "Cute" shirt? I'm seeing it a lot! =)
