Mandy’s teacher at her preschool asked if I would do their spring school portraits. And me thinking – oh this could be fun and a good learning experience – said yes. Ummm….30 minutes into it, I was no longer thinking it a good learning experience but rather a wild and crazy one trying to get 36 different kids to pose and smile while only working with them for less than 2 minutes each. Let’s just say the sweat was dripping off of me. In preparation for the school photos, I bought a cheap light set and a cheap little background thing and then did some practicing on my kids. Mainly on Mandy be cause she was the most willing. So I thought I would share a few of the ones that I took of her:
Plus let’s not forget the behind the scenes bribing of cotton candy!
So while I can’t say that the experience was necessarily a “good” one, it was an experience and while some of the kid’s individual shots were questionable at best, I think the class one turned out pretty good!

You are a brave soul! I about had a nervous breakdown every time I would take the girls to JC Penney for their pictures. And I wasn't even the one taking the pictures! It is so much less stressful to have you take their pictures when they are just running around doing their thing. But - those shots of Mandy do look really good!
You did great! I know of this sweating that you mention. That was my job for 7 months. I traveled to different daycare centers to do pictures. If you decide to do it again, I'll go with you. I'll position and get the smile, you take the shots. :)
I love all the awesomeness running through this photo. You have Mandy being so still and Abi sooooo excited to see something over to the right and then Luke who is trying to be nice and smile but you can just tell, can't put my finger on it exactly, but you just get the feeling he is ready to run. I may have to spend some more time breaking down the thoughts of these kids..... Awesomeness!!
Alright Casey, if I ever decide to try this again, I am totally taking you up on that offer!
