It’s About Time

I just love the commercials put out by the church that focus on time spent with your family. There are some really cute ones floating around on You Tube right now if you want to check them out. Anyway, a few months back I came across this quote about motherhood from President Monson:

1. Take time to always be at the crossroads in the lives of your children, whether they be six or sixteen.

2. Take time to be a real friend to your children.

3. Take time to read to your children. Remember what the poet wrote:You may have tangible wealth untold; Caskets of jewels and coffers of gold. Richer than I you can never be— I had a mother who read to me.

4. Take time to pray with your children.

5. Take time to have a meaningful weekly home evening. Make this one of your great family traditions.

6. Take time to be together at mealtimes as often as possible.

7. Take time daily to read the scriptures together as a family.

8. Take time to do things together as a family.

9. Take time to teach your children.

10. Take time to truly love your children. A mother’s unqualified love approaches Christ like love.

So that’s my goal right now – to TAKE TIME to really be with my kids. Enjoy the everyday moments with them and be together with them doing those things that will not only bring us closer together as a family, but will also bring us closer to our Father in Heaven.

Children are a heavy burden. Physically, emotionally, and spiritually. But with every smile they give,

with every whispered “I love you”, with every tinkling laugh,

with every sweet warm hug, with every nonsensical joke, with every butterfly kiss,

with every thoughtful prayer, with every squeal of delight, they make that burden light and a blessing to bear.

Happy Mother’s Day to all. May we all TAKE TIME to love our children even more today than we already do.
