Spring Training

It only seemed fitting that since we were on Spring Break that we should see a little Spring Training.  We headed down to Melbourne to watch the Braves play the Nationals.

First stop – LUNCH.

We ate lunch in the nicest Publix I’ve ever been in.  Seriously,  they had tables for eating, a coffee shop, a huge deli, and a fancy looking bakery.  We need a Publix like that here!!

Then on to the ball park, where the first thing we did was get cotton candy!

We watched the game for a bit.  Or rather Dallin, Nathan, and I watched the game while Mandy and Layton played on our phones.  Then after that stopped entertaining them,  we went for ice cream!

We then spent twenty or thirty minutes watching the birds.  Layton was fascinated.

The game was still going as baseball games do, and so I had to find something else to entertain them.  I took them out to the homerun area.  It gave us a great view of the little stadium there. And we could watch the Braves pitcher warm up.

But Layton and Mandy didn’t care about the view or the pitcher.  Being out there gave them the chance to have fun to rolling down a hill!!

And while they played, I had fun seeing how far I could zoom in on the batters and on Nathan & Dallin in the stands.  The zoom on my little point and shoot is pretty good!

All in all it was a very fun day.  But it did leave both Nathan and I with a desire to see a baseball game together WITHOUT kids.  You know so we could actually watch it.

So for his birthday in June, we are headed to Atlanta for a weekend of baseball and alone time!  I’m mainly looking forward to the alone time ;)

A day at the park

We spent the first day of spring break at the park!

Layton played on Dallin’s scooter and Dallin played on his.  Layton was so good on it that we went that very day and let him use his birthday money to buy him one.  Thanks Meme!

Dallin found a little caterpillar to play with.

And Mandy prettied up Chloe’s hair!

We then went for a walk.  Mandy is quick becoming one of Papa’s best little buddies.

A pause mid walk for photos…

And then a freezing moment out on the pier!

Grandma and Papa showed us a special stone in the butterfly garden…

It was a beautiful fun day!

Layton’s Birthday Party–Angry Birds Style

Layton is probably like every other child out there – they go through phases of things that interest them to point of almost obsession.  In the months before his birthday, Layton’s obsession revolved around Angry Birds.  So it should come as no surprise that this is what the theme of his party was!

All the games we played had to do with Angry Birds.  First was pin the tail on the red bird.

Layton thought it was hilarious that Dallin’s was so far off the mark.  I’m pretty sure Dallin did that on purpose just to make Layton laugh.

Then the mean pigs hid all of the bird eggs.  Because it was raining outside, they hid all the eggs inside and the kids went in search of them.  They girls you may not recognize in these photos are the kids’ friends from across the street, Anastasia and Rita.

Then the giant pig arrived and it was take down time!!!

You’ll notice Nathan didn’t stay behind the pig for long.  Even though they were using marshmallows, it was still dangerous place to be!

Then it was cake time!

Everyone sang him happy birthday,

and he blew out his candles in just one blow.  He was very proud of that fact.

The best part of the day – PRESENTS!

Thanks so much to everyone that gave him something.  He loved it all!
