This past weekend we drove up to Charlotte, NC to visit Nathan's brother Curtis, his wife Kim, and their four girls. Their youngest girl Kate was born just three weeks after Layton. And since she weighed close to a pound more than Layton at birth, they are now almost identical in size. On Friday the 4th, after a surprisingly good seven hour road trip, we spent the afternoon and evening visiting and enjoying each other's company. All of Nathan's immediate family were there as well as most of Kim's immediate family. We tried visiting a local park, but we were rained out. Luckily it stopped raining by the time we were ready to do a few fireworks. Nathan and Curtis put on a great little fireworks show for us. Dallin had been begging to see the fireworks all day and loved it. Well, loved them except for the noise. I think he spent the whole time with his hands over his ears. But he still really enjoyed it. Mandy especially loved doing the sparklers and waving them around.
On Sunday, Kate was blessed. We were really glad that we were able to be there for that. There is something so special about a baby being blessed and knowing that the power of the priesthood is there in her life from the very beginning to help her and to bless her. Heavenly Father loves little children so very much.
