Grateful for God and Country

IMG_9600

I love patriotic holidays.  Especially Independence Day.  I’m grateful to be reminded of those who have sacrificed in the past and are sacrificing now to ensure our freedoms.  And on Independence Day, I am grateful also to reflect on the founding fathers of our country.  Founding fathers that not only had great courage, but who also lived in such a way that they could listen to the promptings of the spirit, and allow the hand of God to guide them as they shaped a nation.  Because of them, we can gladly state as one of the articles of our religion:

We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where or what they may.

I am grateful everyday for that privilege.
