Awards

I was very proud of Dallin this past nine weeks.  He is not the greatest of students.  Not that he isn’t smart, just that he is just not that in to it.  He would much rather day dream that do school work.  He hasn’t yet fully grasped the importance of it.  But he still does ok.  He makes the A-B honor roll each 9 weeks.

And he is starting to develop a love of reading.  He thinks Percy Jackson is awesome!  I would have to agree!

I was really happy this past 9 weeks that his teacher recognized how hard he is trying in reading.  Ms. Cavins decided to award him with the Accelerated Reading Award.

Award

I hope this will encourage him to keep reading!

Always my Baby

Life after death and resurrection are hot topics in our house.  Honestly it gets mentioned almost daily.  I think much of it has to do with the fact that my dad and Mama Doris are talked about frequently and so it just goes naturally that us being together with them after we die is mentioned often.

Because of this, Layton has gotten it into his head that he will get to choose how old he will be when he is resurrected.  And who knows, maybe he’s right!  Since he has decided that he gets to choose how old he is going to be, he told me that he was going to be 4 when he is resurrected so that he will always be my little boy.

Then one day I mentioned that he was getting so big that I could barely pick him up and that soon I wouldn’t be able to carry him around anymore.  A few minutes after I said that, he turned to me and said that he had changed his mind, he wants to be 2 when he is resurrected so that he will always be my baby and so he won’t be too heavy for me to carry.

I have to admit, I honestly wouldn’t mind.  He was awfully cute when he was 2!!!!

The Puzzler

Layton put this puzzle together and turned to me and said, “Mom, I am a Puzzle Master.”

So if any of you ever have any difficulty with a puzzle, you now know who to come to.

If you’ve never had peppered bacon before, give it at try.  It is awesome!  Then we headed over to Nana and Grandpa’s house for the traditional New Year’s meal which we finished off with this fruit pizza that I was super proud of.

It was a tough,

but exciting game!

M61A1914

With even a little keep away thrown in.

M61A1925

And you of course CAN’T play football without at least one goofball doing the Heisman!

M61A1956

And at least one little boy pouting because he didn’t get his way…

Kayaking on Black Creek

On New Year’s Eve, the Jarvis boys headed out to Black Creek for a little kayaking fun!  They first got all loaded up,

then got everything out to the creek.

All the while Dallin enjoyed a little leisure time with Layton.

And then it was time to embark.  Thank goodness no tipping occurred in the getting in process!

They paddle away and had a wonderful time.  They even got to see some otters playing!

Layton was a little bummed that he didn’t get to go.  But he didn’t let it get him down.  One day very soon, he’ll be big enough to go!
