I think they look awesome in their new skates.

It started raining later that afternoon, so we had to improvise a skating rink in the garage.

We are SO ready to get this summer going!  We intend to have a blast!

Awards and TCBY

I am so proud of my kids!  Dallin made A-b honor roll all year long, passed his first FCAT with no problem, and got a Good Citizen award!

IMG_0051

They don’t normally do accelerated reader awards in Kindergarten, but Mandy’s teacher went above and beyond and got metals for three of her students who truly did wonderful this year in reading (I’m telling you – Ms. Crane is one of the best teachers I’ve ever met!!!).

To celebrate we took the kids to one of their new favorite places – TCBY!!!  We haven’t had one here for a long time, but I’m loving the new one with their self serve set up and SOOOO many toppings.  Yum!

Jammin’ with Grandpa

Nana showed the kids Grandpa’s guitar the other night and then the kids all begged for Grandpa to play.

IMG_77581

I’m pretty sure that right now Dallin wants to be just like Grandpa!  He keeps begging for me to buy him a guitar.  Maybe one day :)

Magical Donut Day

Last Friday was National Donut Day.  So we all loaded up in the car to head up to Dunkin Donuts for – you guessed it – donuts.

IMG_0045

So we get there and they were OUT of donuts.  Say WHAT????  A donut shop out of donuts?????  But it’s true.

So we had to just get our donuts the next morning.  As we ate our donuts Layton announced – “It’s Magical Donut Day!”

Yes, yes it was.

School Party!

We went to a little end of school party last Thursday for Mandy’s class.

IMG_0034IMG_0037

We were supposed to get to go outside and sit on blankets for lunch, but it was a little rainy and wet.  So Mandy just wanted to use the blanket to wrap up nice and warm.

IMG_0038

Mandy has been so blessed with the teacher that she got this year for kindergarten.  Ms. Crane has been both a fun teacher and one that really pushes her students.  She goes way above and beyond to interest her students in learning.  She found out that Mandy was in to gymnastics so she did a whole little unit where they checked out books about gymnastics, watched a video of a gymnastics performance, and even included a few gymnastics words in their sight words list for the week.

IMG_0041

She really challenged Mandy in reading.  She pushed her and Mandy is reading on a third grade level.  Ms. Crane asked Mandy to try to read 10,000 words in the Accelerated Reading program this 9 weeks and Mandy read 44,000 words!  I think that is pretty good for a kindergartener!

Memorial Day

Memorial Day was kind of strange this year.  Hurricane season officially starts on June 1st, but we were already in the midst of a tropical storm!  Beryl kind of rained out our plans a bit, but it didn’t matter too much.  We still had great food and in between bands of rain, the kids braved the freezing water of the pool.

IMG_7732IMG_7739IMG_7743IMG_7747IMG_7748IMG_7751

Those are some crazy kids.  There was no way I was getting in that water!  They only lasted in there about 20 minutes before they were freezing.  Dallin came out and decided to show off his physic for us.

Good times!

End of Season Baseball Party

Another season of baseball is over and so we celebrated big this year.  The team met at Ronnie Van Zant park for a cook out and playing.

Dallin borrowed a fishing pole from one of his friends and had a BLAST casting the lure out into the pond.

IMG_7644

He never even got a nibble, but he didn’t seem to care!

IMG_7645

The pond had lots of ducks and a TON of little ducklings.  It was crazy how many there were!

IMG_7655IMG_7670IMG_7658

Mandy and Layton enjoyed throwing pieces of bread out to the ducks.

IMG_7664IMG_7672IMG_7677

This is one the boys affectionately named “Aflac”.

IMG_7674

Layton also showed off his awesome monkey bar skills.  He went all the way across without any help at all!

IMG_7608IMG_7614

Then the boys received their trophies,

and even Nathan got special picture of the team.

We had a great time and we’re looking forward to next spring!
