Prayer Rocks

On one of the days that their cousins were in town, we had a little family home evening.  A while ago Nana had told me kids about prayer rocks, so I got all the stuff for them and that’s what we made!

After finishing their rocks, I gave each of the kids a copy of the little prayer rock poem:

I'm your little prayer rock
and this is what I'll do...
Just put me on your pillow
until the day is through
Then turn back all the covers
and climb into your bed
WHACK! your little prayer rock
will hit you in the head
Then you will remember
as the day is through
To kneel and say your prayers
as you wanted to
And then when you are finished
just dump me on the floor
I'll stay throughout the night
to give you help once more
When you get up in the morning
CLUNK! I'll stub your toe
So you'll remember to say your
morning prayers before you go
Put me back upon your pillow
once your bed is made
And your clever little prayer rock
will continue in your aid
Because your heavenly Father
cares and loves you so
He wants you to remember
to talk to Him, you know?

It was a full little night.  That same night, Nana showed the kids a little surprise she found in her bushes:

Newly hatched baby birds!  The nest is no longer there.  We’re hoping the mother bird simply moved them and that nothing bad happened to them!

The Wedding

The kids are so happy to add a new uncle to the family.  Especially one as fun as Wayne!  Little does he knows what a crazy family he married in to.  Although we did give him a little taste of while taking pictures :)

Dallin was not all that enthused about being part of the wedding party, but he sure cleans up nice.

He fell in love with the bow tie and now wears it to church every Sunday :) 

We are really happy for Maren, Wayne, & Chloe!

Bowling!

Layton’s class went bowling for their field trip last month.

They were all so cute out there!

Awards!

Awards days are always fun.  So far, Dallin has gotten A-B honor roll each 9 weeks. The first 9 weeks of this year he also had perfect attendance.

He and I were both very surprised that this time around he also received the Outstanding Achievement in Math award.

Ms. Breen, his math teacher, told me that he had moved from being somewhere in the middle of the class as far as grades went to being #2 in the class.  That is pretty awesome!

Centipedes

One rainy morning we woke up to a number of centipedes crawling all over the welcome mat.  Layton was fascinated and decided he needed to feed them.   He ran to the kitchen and got out his favorite crackers and crumbled them up for the little things.

Considering the crumbs were as big as the insects, I’m sure they didn’t go home hungry :)

Easter Baskets and Easter Egg Hunting

The Easter Bunny comes on Saturdays at our house.  The kids set out their baskets the night before and then that mischievous bunny fills up their baskets with goodies and then hide them.  Layton found his first.  It was under the end table in the living room.  He was so fast at finding it, I didn’t even get a picture!  I’m thinking the Easter Bunny may have to hide it harder next time!  His favorite gift?  A one month membership to the online game “Moshi Monsters”.  He loves it!

Mandy’s was hidden in the shower.  She was super excited about her cute new bathing suit.

Dallin’s was hidden GOOD.  It was in the garage behind the recycle bins.

After enjoying their goodies for a while.  They invited over some of their neighborhood friends and we had a little egg hunt.

Everyone came inside and enjoyed the spoils!

Well that is, everyone except Layton.  After finding eggs, he headed straight back to the computer to continue his Moshi Monster fun.  He was obsessed!
